Ben was born in San Gabriel Valley to a working-class family and moved inland when his parents took upon themselves the responsibility for care of his mom’s elderly father. Ben has two sisters and one brother - all of whom were raised in a Catholic home. He lives in the South Coast Metro area of Costa Mesa where he resides with his partner of 10 years and their small dog.
His parents impressed upon him that education was the key to success. A product of public schools, he went on to attend Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa where he has a background in business, marketing, communications, political science, journalism and public speaking.
Ben has lived in South Coast Metro for 8 years. He decided this was where he wanted to make his home. Having lived in several cities in Orange County, from Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, down to Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo, but Ben always found himself coming back to the beautiful area of South Coast Metro, and the exuberant community the city offered.
For the last 10 years, Ben has been politically active and has served on several campaigns and grassroots organizations throughout Orange County, from State Senate, Congressional and City Council races. He has publicly supported candidates who have a record of being fiscally responsible and have the interest of every resident residing in Orange County. Many of these candidates endorse Ben Chapman for Costa Mesa City Council today.
Ben has been in Property Management for 10 years, where he works with seniors living in the community; ensuring they have a beautiful, affordable and safe place to live. He has also spent his time helping his senior residents by coordinating and scheduling local guests to speak about health and healthy eating for those 55 and better. Ben has served on the board of his Homeowners Association for four years and was elected President in December of 2019, where he also makes challenging business decisions for his community, works with vendors, reviews, votes on proposals and endeavors to meet the needs of the residents through direct communication.
Now, at the age of 33, Ben spent most of his adult life building his professional career. He now will use those skills to focus his time and energy to help make our city a financially stable, inviting and overall best place to live in Orange County. He is dedicated to working with the current and future Costa Mesa City Council to address the non-partisan issues affecting the residents and businesses of our great city, helping to restore it to its highest potential.
